Hi,
I am using the birdwind baby blanket pattern designed by Melissa Matthay (now deceased). I started it 3 times and I still have only two stitches on my left needle after finishing the first 7 base triangles, but I need at least 13 to do the last(8th) bottom triangle,,, what am I not doing or doing wrong??? thanks Rita

I tried to read the pattern, and seems nothing wrong with it, let me try to knit those triangles and then will tell you what happened… :)
be patient, there is always a way out from the dark!!!

Thank you I have a few other projects I will play with while you are working with the pattern which is giving me “fits and starts”

you know what, I tried just the 1st triangle, and found that I used total 15 sts (because of the SSKs) , if I keep doing the same thing, I don’t have enough stitches to make the 7th triangle.
I was wondering why too…
(Either the number of cast on was wrong, or the SSK parts are wrong.)
probably there is mistake in the pattern.
I tried to ask the person who already did finish the blanket in Ravelry, see if she can give us some clues.

Thank you, that does make me feel better, I too feel there is a mistake in the # of cast on stitches,,, I wonder if I do a provisional cast on of say 120 stitches (15 x8) and began working the base triangles, if that would be sufficient,, if I have left over cast on stitches, since they are provisional, I could pull them out and it would not effect the triangles,,, what are your thoughts about this..

I received the reply from my knitting fellow in Ravelry, and this is what she said,”Yes, I recall having quite a bit of trouble getting the hang of this pattern. If I remember correctly, I had to adjust the number of cast-on stitches to get it to work out neatly. I think I restarted the first row several times. Hope it works out!”.
So, that means your idea is great to change the cast on.

If it is for me, I would rather change the pattern, I am lazy to do calculation and rather find a better pattern to save my time . (consider you already spent many times on the beginning).

Anyway, it is great to share ideas here! Have fun, enjoy knitting!
