Finally, I’ve got this cardigan done yesterday!

I am so happy about it, first of all, I can finish a cardigan around 10 days! And it’s no longer a cardigan for my baby, but for myself!

The yarn that I used is Rowan Soft Lux, I used that before (for my cabled scarf).
I love this yarn, it’s very soft and light in weight.
I had 10 balls in my stash, and I only needed 5 balls for this cardigan.

Sounds great huh!

I love the diamond lace part, especially the back and the sleeves.

I also love the little pockets, although I think they aren’t that functional (if I put something inside the pocket, it will weigh down the garment, so, I am not going to …) , but, it looks cuter with them at the front of the cardigan.

Lastly, I actually love the ruffle section at the back, but not for the sleeves.
since I usually wear jacket when I go out,  if I have a ‘bulky’ sleeves, it will be very hard to fit my jacket.

Here is the close up of the buttons that  I used. In the pattern, it suggests to use 3 pairs of buttons, but I just used two.

Here is the back of the cardigan.

I shall wear this and take a picture of it, but need to wait for my husband to give me a hand.

Will post the picture of myself with this cardigan later. :)

I love [japanese yarn] + [Argosy]

yeah, Japanese yarn again : Olympus Chante, mixed of camel and wool.

A very soft and curly yarn. I love it.

It works so well with Argosy pattern.

It’s not solid color, it’s a mix of ivory, pale brown and pink colors. Very subtle and soft the tone that it fits my friend so well.

Yeah, I am not going to knit this for myself, it’s for my friend’s Christmas gift.

She is now in Hong Kong, so, I have to rush this project ,and hopefully I can mail it to her on time.

The pattern is free and I think I will knit one for myself by using silk garden , because I love multicolors by Noro Silk Garden, they give you surprises while knitting.

How do you join yarn?

I found that there are many ways to join yarn (joining a new ball of yarn when the previous one has run out). Which way to you use?
I used to use 1) making a knot (Weaver’s knot)
2) and knit in method.

My mom just taught me to use another way: making a braid with two strands of the old yarn and one strand of the new yarn. IT works really well.

But, when knitting lace, how to you join the yarn so that the tail of the yarn won’t slip out from the lace pattern??

Splitting plies and re-twisting?

Russian join?

Any more good ideas to share??

I love lace.

Lace = elegant.

I saw this oak leaf when browsing the net, then, I found the pattern for this lacy oak leaf.

I love it, the pattern is in chart form, which is quite easy to read.

I think this bookmark is  a perfect gift for friends.

yarn:  King Cable Due, pink (139)

Pattern: Lace Oak Leaf (available here: http://www.heartstringsfiberarts.com/othergoodies.shtm )

needle size I used here: 3mm

Lace and Diamond bootee

I am knitting a pair of Lace and diamond bootees for Erika, I want to make a match for her new Gwen Cardigan.

The yarn that I am using is exactly the same color but different name of the yarn: Baby Cashmerino by Debbie Bliss.

It’s finer than the Cashmerino aran, but still easy to knit (however, at the same time, quite easy to slip off from the needles too.)

The size is made for 6 months baby, it’s a bit big for her now, but surely she can wear them in the coming winter!
