I finished the NORO silk garden little shawl last week, and I already started a new project with silk yarn.

This silk yarn was bought in a local yarn store (Linda’s Craftique).

It’s from Handmaiden Fine Yarn, named samira silk,  the yardage isn’t a lot though, but 2 skeins should be enough for a scarf.

The pattern that I am using is the OLD pattern that I bought long long time ago, Japanese feather scarf.

I love this yarn’s color, SILVER, I think, it’s actually grey, but with the SILK shiny effect of the yarn itself, it looks like “SILVER”.

Knitting silk is very different from WOOL, for wool , they are more stretchy, but silk, it’s another story.

THey are soft, smooth, and silky to knit, but not stretchy at all.

OTher than knitting, I already packed the stuffs for donation, the good thing is: someone will come over and pick them up, I don’t need to MOVE them to the station. This really helps me to save time and energy!

After the removal of all stuffs, Erika and I will move to my mom’s house, and then I will do BIG BiG clean up for our house.

I hope I will have SOME energy to knit at night before sleep. :)

my little one helped out cleaning ! HA!

 I received two packages today!

what a surprise when I opened the mailbox!

First, I opened the first parcel from Norway, it’s a beautiful scarf made by my scarf exchange partner, Marianne.

She outdid this for me!

1) my favorite color: purple, the pattern for the scarf is very beautiful with a cable in the middle and rounded ends.

It’s so pretty with the crocheted flower with shawl pin.

2) she also added 3 balls of yarn, two from Drop designs, the Alpaca , and the other ball is silk alpaca, very soft and bright color. :)

3) the chocolate from Norway , can I say more? I really love chocolates. :D

Then, I opened the second parcel, it’s from my secret pal 13 partner, she knew that I am leaving to China very soon, so, she kindly consider that and made a very special gift for me. She made many things for me , hey, it’s ONE of A KIND!!

1) few dish cloths, which is very functional for me to use them in the kitchen.

2)  a very very fine lace work: dolly, I don’t think I can do that in my life, the ‘thread’ she used is really fine. I really admire my partner who really did a good job on it.

3) a very big , beautiful shawl made by my partner again, it’s a crocheted shawl, it’s gorgeous. When I showed it to my husband, he couldn’t wait to take this picture for me. :)

4) two packs of Lindt dark chocolate (yummy! my partner is worried if it’s too dark for me, no , I like it, I like the little ‘bitterness’ of the dark chocolate!

5) a pair of circular needles, she is so thoughtful that she knows that I will travel to China, and she bought me a pair of ‘plastic’ ones that is SAFE on the flight! :)  Thanks!

6) a hook, with a fancy top , which she said that I can use it as a shawl pin. Yeah, I agree with her. :D

7) a skein of Knitpicks yarn, this is my first time to receive BROWN color yarn, and I actually want to buy one , because my daughter looks good in brown, hey pal, you read my mind! :)

8) last but not least, a box of Lace knitting cards, I did think about buying this on my own when I saw them in the bookstore, but, I put it back as I thought I had too many patterns. Ha, you’ve got me this set of cards, thanks, I will bring them with me to China. :D

Thanks… pals, you guys really know my taste! I love them all.

and your packages just brightened up my day, and gave me SO MUCH MORE energy to pack my stuffs for the move!

:)

Finally I took some pictures of my new/old FOs.

Here is the Norwegian Hat for Erika:

The Queen anne scarf on me:

Erika loves this too. :)

Yarn: Noro silk garden lite, pattern: Queen Anne Crochet scarf  (Free pattern!)

Finally took one without Erika's hand.

THis is another unfinished Queen Anne scarf, using Rowan Tapestry.

A little scarf for Erika, using the left over Malabrigo from my Grande hat.

The grande hat (from boutique knits) .. I love this hat…

love the yarn too, first time to use the Malabrigo worsted weight. It’s so soft and easy to knit.

In the pattern , it suggests to use bulky weight, but I used the worsted weight, it works well too!

I couldn’t take a clear picture of myself with the hat…

I shall ask Vincent to take one for me later.

Yarn: Malabrigo worsted wool, needles: 4.5, 5 , 5.5 and 6mm needles.

Last one is the Neck warmer (from Luxury One skein wonder book) :

Yarn: Mission Falls 136 wool, one skein only, and using 5.0mm needles

I finally finished one Queen Anne scarf, this is NUMBER 2, I used Noro Silk garden lite for this scarf. It looks even better than Rowan Tapestry.

I could able to finish it in 1 1/2 hour, well, just used one skein, and only 30 motifs in total. (in the pattern, it suggested to have around 50 -60 motifs?!) OH well, just because I only bought one skein, I can’t make it longer. BUT, I am happy with that length, you know, it just depends on how you match your top.

I pictured this scarf with me tonight, I know, the picture isn’t that good, and I even used ‘watercolor’ effect in photoshop, haha…

I think I need to take pictures for all my FOs tomorrow … and hopefully Erika won’t disturb me while doing the shooting.

After knitting the scarf for my husband, I suddenly found that Erika doesn’t have any scarf!!

Oh my GOd, I shouldn’t left her out.

SO, I am going to knit her a little scarf. Since she is tiny, she doesn’t need a long scarf, nor anything too fancy.

I used the stitch pattern from “A treasury of knitting patterns” by Barbara Walker.

THe SLipped Diagonal Rib pattern, it looks simple, but quite stylish if you compare with the usual 1×1, or 2×2 ribs patterns.

I casted on 20 stitches only, and repeat the pattern over and over.

I will try few more repeats tonight and see how it goes.

Slipped Diagonal Rib Pattern:

Row 1 (WS) – K1 , *K3, p1; rep from *, end K1.

Row 2 – K1, *Sl 1 wyib, p3; rep from *, end k1.

Row 3 – K1, *k3, sl1 wyif; rep from *, end K1.

Row 4 – K1, *Drop sl-st to front of work, p2, pick up dropped st and knit it, p1; rep from * , end K1.

Row 5 – K2, *p1, k3; rep from *.

Row 6 – K1, *p2, sl 1 wyib, p1; rep from * , end k1.

Row 7 – K2, *sl 1 wyif, k3; rep from *.

Row 8 – K1, p2, *drop sl-st to front of work, p2, pick up dropped st and knit it, p1; rep from * to last 3 sts, end drop sl-st to front of work , p1, pick up dropped st and purl it, k1.

(quite familiar to the ballband washcloth pattern though.)
