I am not very down because of his leaving, I know that Erika and I will meet him very soon (around April).

But I was quite frustrated to look at the MESS at my home. Because we need to clean up everything inside the house before we move to my mom house.

Books for sale!

Books for sale!

I found that we still have lots of stuffs ‘hidden’ somewhere around the house. And I am going to sell them off. My last (very last) “garage” sale will be on the coming Sat, from 9am till 11:30am only. It’s a very short period of time, because I can’t hold it for too long, it’s really tiring though. (sorry, no reserve, no special appointment and everything in FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.)

But, I am taking everything EASY and SLOW. And also grabbed sometimes to knit too.

KNITTING  in BLUE :

Ishbel shawl , started pattern A

I started a beautiful shawl project: Ishbel. I was inspired by my best friend Angel, she made one with sock yarn that was bought from my stash, it’s so gorgeous! So, I am going to make one too.
I am using Noro silk garden sock yarn (S252) for this shawl, so far I love it. :)

It’s not a big project though, and I think I can finish it very soon. :)

(May be I didnt’ touch the needles and yarn for so long, that’s why I have the ENERGY to knit it fast!)

While Erika was sick last week, I stayed home with her most of the time.

When I was taking pics of the FO, she was standing beside me and flipping my music books. SHe loves them!

She recovered quite fast this time, but the runny nose kept bugging her a lot. :(

Finally she seems fully recovers today. :)

and I can take my projects for pictures shooting.

I really love the center of the hemlock ring, gorgeous!

The first project I want to show is the Hemlock Ring blanket.

I used Fleece Artist Sea wool for this project, I bought this yarn from Mary’s Yarn in June. When I bought the yarn, I knew that I won’t knit a pair of socks with this yarn, but may be something for Erika. Finally, I decided  to use it for a blanket, a fancy hemlock ring blanket.

I took a long time to finish off the edge, however, it worths, its really lovely!

I love this blanket when I looked at Brookyln Tweed’s pictures. He is such a great photographer that everything looks so perfect until his shots.

Personally I don’t really like grey, so, I used the sea wool in purple/blue colorway. HOWEVER, after knitting it up, I think I shall choose Cascade Eco wool instead of this sock yarn, it’s too fine for this project, or I will need more yarn and time to knit it bigger.

RIght now, I am happy with the outcome, but I do want it bigger and ‘thicker’ though.

So, I think I will see if there is any sales on Cascade eco wool, then, will get some for this pattern again.

WHen I was knitting the feather and fan section, it’s really ‘tiring’ though, the 4 Knit rounds really makes my hands cramp! It’s almost 400 stitches for a round when I came to the end of the blanket.. …

I am amazed that I could finished it in just 3 days!  IT’s in fact,  a short , easy project, not too hard to follow.
Some people follows the chart, but I prefer to follow the TEXT format.

Another projects that I am working on right now :

1) the Helena cardigan for Erika, I put it down for a while, but I think it’s time to finish it off, still need to finish off the sleeves and neck shaping.

2)  a cap for myself / Erika … have to get smaller needles if I really want to make it for Erika.

3) a noro stripe scarf for my husband. Finally I planned to knit something for him.

I dont’ really want to knit  a jacket, or sweater for him, it’s a XXL size, I know that I will put it down once I am on the 2nd row .. hahhaa. It’s just too boring to knit MEN’s stuffs.. (except bags / scarves)

I love the noro scarf a lot, I took some pics of it.

I think I am addicted to yarn!

1. wool in the woods cherub, 2. wind song multi, 3. duet swell, 4. socks that rock brown black, 5. posh yarn red, 6. colinette purple multi, 7. yarn anonymous, 8. colinette bulk purple, 9. mama llama yarn purple

I just received some new yarn that I bid in ebay, and also some ‘new’ ones from Ravelry’s members.

They are all so yummy and the prices are quite good though. :)

I might give away some of them to my swap partners (I joined 4 swaps! Believe it?!)

It’s fun to join those swaps, meeting more new knitters and friends.

I also tried to knit more rows for my daughter’s cardigan.

I already did the upper part of the cardigan and started the lace section.

I love the color of this yarn, the orange and purple mix is quite special though! I hope it will look good on Erika.

Tomorrow will be my daughter, Erika’s 1st birthday!
We already received one gift, HOWEVER, we already had that toy for ERika!

My husband will go to ToyRus and see if they can let us exchange another toy, or give us a credit note.

WOW, I am sooo happy to see this package from my “Knitter’s treasure swap”.

This is the best one I received since I joined the swaps.

You know, it’s hard to find gifts for your friends, and I think it’s even harder to find something for someone you don’t know, and just from what’s described in the questionnaire!
but, Cindy, you’ve got what’s in my mind!
I really love them all.

Here is the package

:

You are so thoughtful and cute, because you used ribbons to wrap everything neatly and also left a tag with your lovely notes there! It’s wonderful!

Thanks for the magazine that you sent me, I love this magazine and the ‘recycle bag’ that you tagged. it’s really cute!

The yarn is yummy!
the color is my favorite PINK!

I will definitely use those yarn with the patterns that you gave me. You just gave me lots of inspirations and ideas to knit with this beautiful, fantastic yarn!

i-cord maker, I have never try this, but I think it’s faster to make an i-cord with this if compare with using two dpn needles. RIGHT?

A very fun pen, great for me as I love to write sometimes. :D

Also thanks for the patterns that you printed out from your ‘library’.  I love all the patterns you shared!

Cindy, you are the best swap partner!!

:)
Thanks for everything!!

On the other hand, I also received a gift from another “Ravelry member” – Annette.  She sent me some linen yarn and also gave me some surprise too : post cards of San Diego, Dried Cranberries…. etc.. !

Thanks  I love them all.:D

Last but not least,
I also received another package from my Taiwan friend, She helped me to order some ‘on sale’ japanese yarn (silk)…they are just beautiful and elegant!

and this:

Finally, I started to knit socks again.

I gave up a year ago, because I chose the wrong color for my sock (i chose hot pink, which is not so good on my leg). And I was using double pointed needles at that time, I found myself very clumsy to use them, so, I gave up.

But, I found that the sock yarns are just so yummy that i couldn’t resist to knit socks again.
This time, I used the 2 circular needles method, and it works for me, it’s easier and faster.
I think I fall in love with this method, and I love socks knitting now.

The pattern that I am using is from my library:

Embossed Leaves by Mona Schmidt from Favorite Socks
I am now working on the leg part, it’s fun, and it’s easy to knit too.

The yarn that I am using is the Indigo moon, I was planning to use it for the Pomatomus sock pattern, however, I changed my mind and switched to this one.
I think, I better use a solid color for the pomatomus , otherwise the lace pattern plus the multi color will look too busy.
Yesterday, I spent a morning with my mom and Erika to visit two yarn stores.
the first stop is the Knitmatic, I wanted to search for some nice sock yarn, and I was looking for the Koigu sock yarns, however, when I arrived the store, they didn’t have my colors, and seems like they had less Koigu now.
Then, just few mintues away from this store, I arrived Loop cafe, it’s a new yarn store for ME.
I love this store, when I stepped into the store, you can smell the yummy baking food and the coffee.
It’s a very spacious store for eating, relaxing, knitting and chatting.

I met the store lady there and she was very nice to me and spent some time to show me the yarn and the patterns. I love this place.
The left side is the cafe section, and the right side is one of the yarn sections, you can find some nice sock yarns there…
I bought two skeins of sock yarn there:
1) Ancient Threads, It’s called “tri”, 100% merino wool superwash.
weight: fingering weight, amount: 481 yards/ 100 gram,
one skein is already enough for a pair of socks!
It’s very special the dyeing of this yarn, because this lady used natural food dye , she even wrote down what ‘food’ she used:
for this yarn, she wrote:
“Iac, Cocerineal, mackler, chestnut, black walnut, logwood grey, logwood purple, tumeric, fustic, quebracho red, quebracho green”
I love this color way! (how much? around $25.50)
You can also find this yarn in her esty store .
Another cheaper one is called Elitespun , it’s made in Canada!
100% merino wool, 115 g, 398 m / 435 yards
machine washable.
you can also check out the website for this  brand: www.elitespun.com
I chose a light olive green/yellow one. :)
(sorry, not a good picture, I just my small camera to take this shot, so, it’s not so good.)
