I started sewing 2 weeks ago, and I knew that I was addicted to it! I didn’t pick up the needles for almost 2 weeks. Can’t believe it!

Oh well, after making few bags and pouches, I think I need a little rest from the sewing machine. I went back to the needles again (hooray!).

And you know what, I didn’t continue old project but had the mood to create my own pattern.

I saw that many people like knitting a cowl for autumn and winter, I think it’s a good idea.

But, when I took a look of the Ravelry’s patterns, I didn’t find any thing I love.

So, I made my own pattern.

I just did swatch tonight, and I think I am ready to start this cowl.

The lace pattern that I am trying is from the book: Barbara G. Walker, A Fourth Treasury of Knitting patterns, p. 222 “Picture Lace”.

I don’t know if this kind of lace pattern has copyright for it. Otherwise, I will put it up and share with everyone. Can any one tell me if it has copyright or not?

The yarn that I am using is from my stash, Art Yarns, silk Rhapsody, 50% & 50% Kid Mohair, extremely soft and beautiful yarn! (100g, 260 yards/238m)

I think one skein should be enough for a cowl.

The picture was taken tonight in a very dim room, so, it’s hard to see the lace effect.

Finally, I started to knit socks again.

I gave up a year ago, because I chose the wrong color for my sock (i chose hot pink, which is not so good on my leg). And I was using double pointed needles at that time, I found myself very clumsy to use them, so, I gave up.

But, I found that the sock yarns are just so yummy that i couldn’t resist to knit socks again.
This time, I used the 2 circular needles method, and it works for me, it’s easier and faster.
I think I fall in love with this method, and I love socks knitting now.

The pattern that I am using is from my library:

Embossed Leaves by Mona Schmidt from Favorite Socks
I am now working on the leg part, it’s fun, and it’s easy to knit too.

The yarn that I am using is the Indigo moon, I was planning to use it for the Pomatomus sock pattern, however, I changed my mind and switched to this one.
I think, I better use a solid color for the pomatomus , otherwise the lace pattern plus the multi color will look too busy.
Yesterday, I spent a morning with my mom and Erika to visit two yarn stores.
the first stop is the Knitmatic, I wanted to search for some nice sock yarn, and I was looking for the Koigu sock yarns, however, when I arrived the store, they didn’t have my colors, and seems like they had less Koigu now.
Then, just few mintues away from this store, I arrived Loop cafe, it’s a new yarn store for ME.
I love this store, when I stepped into the store, you can smell the yummy baking food and the coffee.
It’s a very spacious store for eating, relaxing, knitting and chatting.

I met the store lady there and she was very nice to me and spent some time to show me the yarn and the patterns. I love this place.
The left side is the cafe section, and the right side is one of the yarn sections, you can find some nice sock yarns there…
I bought two skeins of sock yarn there:
1) Ancient Threads, It’s called “tri”, 100% merino wool superwash.
weight: fingering weight, amount: 481 yards/ 100 gram,
one skein is already enough for a pair of socks!
It’s very special the dyeing of this yarn, because this lady used natural food dye , she even wrote down what ‘food’ she used:
for this yarn, she wrote:
“Iac, Cocerineal, mackler, chestnut, black walnut, logwood grey, logwood purple, tumeric, fustic, quebracho red, quebracho green”
I love this color way! (how much? around $25.50)
You can also find this yarn in her esty store .
Another cheaper one is called Elitespun , it’s made in Canada!
100% merino wool, 115 g, 398 m / 435 yards
machine washable.
you can also check out the website for this  brand: www.elitespun.com
I chose a light olive green/yellow one. :)
(sorry, not a good picture, I just my small camera to take this shot, so, it’s not so good.)

I ordered these Manos Silk blend last week, and they arrived today!

I love them.
Honestly, I love them more than the 100% wool ones..

They are much finer than the 100% wool, and so much softer!

I think I will use those for scarf knitting. It will keep my neck warm and no itchy problem!

Can’t wait to try it, but I promise myself not to start it until I finish at least 1 project on hand. :)

I bought these through online store: Threadbear.
They don’t have ‘online shopping’ though, but you can order them by email. :)
Their service is fast!

I bought them for $11.50 each , I think it’s the cheapest so far, (I checked other online stores ,they sell $13 – $13.50)

This store carries all 16 colors, so, go and get them ! :)

Today, I also went to Fabric Land , and they have everything 40% (only apply to non-sales items) , I bought 3 bag handles.

Two bamboo ones (different length) and one acrylic one.

Hello all knitters or yarn lovers:

I am detashing my yarn, not too much though, but want to sell them to leave some more space for my new ones. :)

I love this the most. it’s a mix of wool & cashmere, it is very soft! I want to use this to knit a lace scarf.

I bought this and want to make another scarf with this, it is finer than the one that shown on the above. it’s also very soft.

I love fall colors , especially with brown & orange. I bought 3 balls of this, and want to make an entrelac scarf, or mitten….

This is wool that great for felting, I am going to use this to knit the French Market Bag (it’s actually from Knitty.com).

I found this pattern in Ravelry, its a very good site to us to find great patterns and yarns.
