Japanese baby dress

March 6, 2007

This little baby dress was actually knitted for a friend’s daughter, however, don’t know why, I kept it for my own baby collection. I was thinking, may be one day if I have a baby girl, she can wear this out.

The pattern is from a Japanese pattern book that I bought from,
you can find many nice knitting books from, however, you have to prepare to pay more for international shipping. They use DHL international shipping, so, it’s quite safe, and you can receive the books at home, not even need to go to the Postal office for pick up.

I didn’t have any Japanese yarn, and even though you find them in the website, they are expensive. Instead of using the yarn that was suggested in the book, I used Sirdar Snuggly, I love the touch of this yarn, it’s extremely soft, and it’s just great for babies.

This is the book that I used for knitting this baby dress.
if you don’t know how to read Japanese pattern, the following link is quite helpful.
They usually have diagrams for knitters, and what you have to know is the meaning of the Japanese and the symbols. It’s not too difficult though.
Good luck!

Pattern: Japanese book: ラブリーニットを赤ちゃんに―ママの手あみがいちばんかわいい! , p. 25, #39.
Yarn: Sirdar, Snuggly DK yarn, and 4ply yarn.
